A splash of colour 🧶

I decided I’d like to try adding a splash of colour to my hand spun fleece, but after researching I was disappointed to find that it involved chemicals, face masks, new pans to dye in and so on. I almost gave up the idea, then I came across Kool Aid! It wasn’t the easiest thing to get hold of, but I managed to buy a small multi-pack online and it arrived yesterday! I was so excited, but a little apprehensive to get started. I dug out a cowl I’d made a while ago - I wasn’t completely happy with it, so had popped it away in my project box to come back to later.....today was that day!

After soaking the cowl in water for about half an hour, I then mixed the Kool Aid powder in a glass with some water.

Pouring the dye onto the cowl was so satisfying! Once the cowl was covered, I popped it onto the stove to heat for 20 minutes, then left to cool.

Ta dah!

Once the water had cooled, I rinsed the cowl thoroughly - I expected lots of pink dye to come out but the water ran clear straight away! After a bubbly wash I left the cowl to dry...and here it is! I love the colour and definitely will try this again with other colours - maybe a mix of colours?! 😍

Happy crafting!
